The chief returning officer for the primaries was Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Interestingly, Audu has contested the governorship position of the state since the inception of the state, he contested in 1991, 1999 (which he won), 2003, 2007, 2011 and now 2015! Audu had been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission shortly after his governorship tenure expiration in 2003. His trial is reportedly still ongoing. The Kogi State governorship election is scheduled to hold November 21 2015. Meanwhile, Nigerians have been reacting to the emergence of Audu as the candidate of the APC in the state’s governorship election since the news broke out, with many berating the APC for even allowing him to contest the party’s primaries.
